Let Me Answer That For You
Let's get clear up the logistics real quick so we can focus on the feelings! This page has the answers to the most common questions I get—things like what to expect in our first sessions, who I work with, and what it’ll cost. Scroll through, get your info, and breathe a little easier. Didn’t find your question? No sweat. Shoot me an email at shannon@authoredtherapy.com and I’ll be happy to help!
Who Do You Work With?
Most of my clients are Millennial and Gen Z women, but I have plenty of experience and interest working with all adults! I also love working with families.
I may not be a good fit if you're seeking treatment for active substance use or disordered eating, or if you're specifically seeking LGBTQ+ support.
What Is Our First Session Like?
I am a person-centered therapist, so our first session can look however you need it to. If you're ready to dive in, we'll dive in! If you need time to work up to it, we'll pace. What we'll definitely do is equip you with new strategies to make life a little easier in the meantime and set a few goals to see where we're headed.
What are your credentials?
I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Georgia and a current doctoral candidate in Counselor Education & Supervision. Earning the LPC requires a CACREP-accredited master’s degree, passing the National Counseling Exam, and completing at least three years of supervised experience. Ongoing education is also required to maintain licensure.
Do You Take Insurance? What Is The Self Pay Cost?
Yes! I have recently begun accepting some insurances through Headway! Send me a photo of the front and back of your insurance card and I can verify if your plan is included. If not, we can also do self-pay and submit superbills to your insurance for possible reimbursement. Our intake session is $220, and then subsequent sessions are $150.
Do You Have Availability?
I am available for in-person and virtual sessions from 11am-7pm Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Although, where I am able to be flexible I totally can be, just ask!
Do You Have Office Space Available?
Yes! Our two full term (one year) lease offices are at capacity for the moment, but we do have one co-working office available. You're able to reserve this room during two time slots (9-2pm or 3pm-7pm) Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. You may reserve as little or as much as you need! For more information and the calendar to book, navigate to the main menu via he icon on the top left corner and click on "reserve a therapy studio." Can't wait to host you!
